Nidec, the Japanese giant and world leader in the production of electric motors, has announced its intention to move part of the operations of the Control Techniques Dynamics division from Andover, Great Britain, to the factory in Oradea, Romania.
This proposal could lead to the loss of approximately 60 jobs, according to official information. The company has already begun consultations with employees and their representatives to discuss the future of the Walworth Industrial Estate site.
Nidec Drives emphasized that the relocation is part of its long-term strategy to consolidate viable economic operations.
The announcement surprised employees, who expressed astonishment at the decision to close the factory, considering that entire generations of families have worked in this factory.
Final decisions will be made after the consultation process is completed.
