President Nicușor Dan emphasized, in an interview on Antena 1, the necessity of outlining a clear economic vision for Romania. He pointed out that the country cannot produce "everything", but must identify the areas in which it has real competitive potential. Among these areas, he mentioned technology, IT, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology, where Romania has a solid tradition in training specialists.
He also highlighted the importance of leveraging traditional industries such as extractive, chemical, or military. The gases from the Black Sea, available in about two years, must be used wisely for economic development. Nicușor Dan advocated for well-defined sectoral strategies, measurable objectives, and active economic diplomacy to support exports and reduce the trade deficit. He criticized the incoherent distribution of subsidies and called for prioritizing areas with growth potential.
