President Nicușor Dan reacted to the INS announcement regarding the technical recession of the Romanian economy, highlighting that it is the result of a 2% contraction in consumption. He emphasized that the reduction in consumption was caused both by the decrease in purchasing power and by caution regarding the economic future. Dan mentioned the progress in reducing the budget deficit without external assistance and pointed out that Romania's economy has slowed down in the last four years, despite large deficits.

He urged politicians to focus on structural issues and called on citizens to continue to put pressure on decision-makers. Despite the challenges, Dan expressed optimism about the private economy and government programs that can generate development. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan commented that the recession was inevitable, as Romania is transitioning from a deficit and consumption-based model to one centered on investments and budgetary discipline.
