In the first 11 months of 2025, Romania's natural gas production decreased by 1%, while imports increased by 70.9%.

The production of usable natural gas in Romania was 6.843 million tons of oil equivalent in the first 11 months of 2025, registering a decrease of 1% compared to the same period last year. In contrast, natural gas imports increased by 70.9%, reaching nearly 2.88 million toe.

The National Commission for Strategy and Forecast (CNSP) estimates an average annual increase in natural gas production of 1.7% until 2027, with an estimate of 7.79 million toe for 2025 and 8.176 million toe for 2027. It is also expected that imports will decrease, with an estimate of 2.211 million toe for 2025, in line with the increase in production and the commissioning of new capacities.
