Ciprian Ciucu, the mayor of the Capital, announced the update of rents for the 4,050 affordable housing units, which have not been adjusted since 2007, to ensure a fair price for tenants and to increase the revenues of the city's budget.

The examples provided by the mayor show that, after the update, the rent for a one-bedroom apartment will increase from 115 lei to 980 lei in area A and 560 lei in area C. Additionally, the rent for two-bedroom apartments will reach 1,568 lei in area A and 896 lei in area C, while for three-bedroom apartments, it will be 1,960 lei in area A and 1,120 lei in area C. Estimates indicate that, following the updates, the Real Estate Fund Administration will register collections of approximately 500 million lei annually. The mayor will promote this project at the next meeting of the General Council of the Capital.
