The Nikkei 225 from Japan recorded an increase of 0.8%, reaching 48,069.71, due to a strong start to the earnings reporting season and expectations of rate cuts in the US. In South Korea, the Kospi recorded a record advance, adding 1.8% to 3,722.67, amid buying in the technology and automotive sectors, fueled by expectations of an impending agreement between the US and South Korea regarding tariffs on Korean exports. In China, the Hang Seng index in Hong Kong fell by 0.4% to 25,799.27, while the Shanghai composite index rose by 0.1% to 3,916.10. In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 climbed by 8% to 9,063.70, surpassing the 9,000 level for the first time, amid rising mining stocks.
