In August, the prices of basic foodstuffs increased by 1.53%, but some products had significant increases, while others decreased.

The analysis of the Competition Council shows that, in August, prices for some food products increased more than the VAT increase, with notable increases for cozonac (+18.40%) and minced meat (+4.93%). Although average shelf prices rose by 1.53%, some goods, such as pork shoulder and margarine, recorded decreases. Seasonal goods experienced significant fluctuations, with substantial decreases for plums (-61.34%) and potatoes (-30.75%), but increases for apples and cucumbers. The price capping measures are valid until 2025.
