The Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Peter Szijjarto, announced an agreement with the French group Engie for the purchase of 4 billion cubic meters of natural gas between 2028 and 2038, considering it essential for Hungary's energy security. Additionally, MVM Group signed a similar agreement with Shell for the supply of 200 million cubic meters of liquefied gas annually, starting in 2026. However, Hungary continues to depend on Russian natural gas, importing significant quantities through the Turkish Stream pipeline.
