The European Commission has decided that Greece must return €392.2 million of EU funds due to systemic irregularities observed in their management between 2016 and 2023. The fine affects various programs, including direct payments and support for young farmers. The OPEKEPE agency responsible for managing these funds has been closed and the European Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating fraud linked to fictitious land. Laura Codruța Kövesi denounced the intimidation of investigation teams, while the Greek opposition leader underlined the negative impact on the country's credibility.
