Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare has announced a package of fiscal measures, negotiated with the European Commission, which could bring in 9.5 billion lei in revenues in 2025. The total impact for 2025 is estimated at RON 10.75 billion, while for 2026, revenues of RON 35 billion and expenditures of RON 57 billion, including a freeze on salaries and pensions, are expected. The package includes increases in excise duties and taxes, as well as higher taxes on gambling, to support an investment-oriented economy and budgetary discipline.
