In the 2024/25 season, the European Union exported 20.33 million tons of soft wheat, a significant decrease of 35% from the previous year. Romania stood out as the main exporter, delivering 5.56 million tons, followed by Germany and Lithuania. Barley exports also fell by 20%, while maize imports rose by 4%, mostly from Ukraine.
