Presidential advisor Radu Burnete stated that the conclusion of the trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur is positive news for Romania, emphasizing that the prosperity of the country depends on the well-being of Europe. Burnete claims that the agreement will allow Romania to access a market of over 270 million consumers, providing protection for the agricultural sector through strict clauses. He believes that Europe must remain a global player and promote economic interests without compromising standards.
On the other hand, the PSD condemned the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support the agreement, demanding clarifications regarding the protection of Romanian farmers. President Nicușor Dan announced that Romania voted in favor of the agreement, mentioning that additional measures were negotiated to protect Romanian producers. Additionally, the European Commission will allocate an additional amount of up to 45 billion euros for the Common Agricultural Policy, in response to Romania's requests.
