BCR, the second largest bank in Romania, has announced a national premiere by making the first payment using an AI agent, in partnership with Mastercard. This innovation marks the beginning of a new era in which robots can manage people's finances. Although AI software has already been integrated into banking processes, this is the first time an AI agent has managed a payment from start to finish.

The AI agent acquired an experience from Priceless.com, and the process was facilitated by the PayOS platform. To ensure data security, agent tokens were used, and the consumer's identity was verified throughout the entire process. Representatives from BCR and Mastercard emphasize the importance of transparency and security in transactions initiated by AI agents, ensuring that users remain in control. This collaboration paves the way for intelligent payment solutions and the expansion of agent-based transactions across various industries.
