The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) has announced a legislative initiative for the implementation of generalized reverse VAT taxation, aimed at combating tax evasion and recovering the billions of euros lost in 'carousel' type frauds.
The leader of the AUR senators, Petrișor Peiu, emphasized that this measure is supported by economists and has demonstrated effectiveness in the areas where it is already applied. AUR believes that a stable Tax Code, with rare modifications, is essential for the predictability of the business environment.
AUR deputy Gianina Șerban stated that the project was initiated following requests from entrepreneurs and that it will bring real benefits. Taxation specialists have supported that Romania could request a derogation from the European Commission to implement this measure.
The project aims to reduce the budget deficit and combat the non-payment of VAT in the chain, a phenomenon that severely affects the state's finances.
