The National Regulatory Authority for Energy (ANRE) has proposed increasing the value of the financial guarantee for users requesting connection to the grid, from 5% to 20% of the connection fee, in the case of projects with approved capacities greater than 1 MW. This measure aims to increase user accountability, reduce speculative reservations, and ensure efficient use of the capacity of the electrical networks.
ANRE has found that the current guarantee does not sufficiently filter projects, and many of them block the network from advancing. Additionally, the president of ANRE mentioned that the connection regulation will be revised and the extension of technical connection approvals will be conditioned on proof of the financial capacity of investors. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan emphasized the need to correct the current situation, in which many speculative projects occupy the capacity of the network, preventing serious new investments.
