Alexandru Nazare, Minister of Finance, said Romania faces a vulnerable economy and an unstable budgetary foundation, with a budget deficit consistently above 6% of GDP over the last five years. He pointed out that economic growth has been fueled by excessive consumption and borrowing, while spending has been unrealistic. Nazare stressed the need for a sound-based budget reconstruction and proposed a realistic approach to revenue collection and expenditure management to ensure a sustainable economic model.
