Adrian Chesnoiu, the general director of the Agency for the Financing of Rural Investments (AFIR), stated that starting from mid-November, 150 million euros will be available for the establishment of photovoltaic and wind energy production units intended for agriculture and the food industry. This program, part of the Modernization Fund, was initially endowed with 500 million euros, but applications for wind energy were limited, while photovoltaics were highly accessed.
Chesnoiu emphasized the importance of this funding for reducing energy costs and increasing the competitiveness of Romanian agri-food products. The guide for the new funding session has been published for public consultation, and eligible beneficiaries include enterprises in the agricultural sector and land improvement organizations. The funding will support projects for the production of electricity from renewable sources for self-consumption, managed by the Ministry of Energy and AFIR.
