In the first months of 2026, the number of companies that suspended their activity increased significantly, with Bucharest leading, where 457 firms suspended their activity, representing a 28.37% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The counties of Cluj, Bihor, Iași, Sibiu, Brașov, Neamț, and Timiș followed with a significant number of suspensions, Cluj having 215 suspended firms (+20.11%), and Bihor 202 (+12.85%). Conversely, the fewest suspensions were recorded in Giurgiu (14, -54.84%), Ialomița (23, +64.29%), and Teleorman (28, +3.7%). The largest increases in suspensions were reported in Ialomița (+64.29%), Caraș-Severin (+57.14%), and Gorj (+48.48%), while the most significant decreases were in Giurgiu (-54.84%) and Vrancea (-43.14%). By activity sectors, wholesale and retail trade was the most affected, with 367 suspensions, followed by professional, scientific, and technical activities (155) and transportation and storage (153). In February 2026, 1,807 activity suspensions were reported, the most in Bucharest (202) and in the counties of Cluj (103) and Bihor (110).
