Oil and natural gas prices rose significantly on Wednesday, following attacks on production facilities in Iran, including the South Pars gas field, the largest in the world. Brent crude climbed by 5%, reaching nearly $109 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) increased by 2.5%, reaching $98 a barrel. Natural gas prices in Europe advanced by over 7%. Iranian agencies reported American-Israeli attacks on oil facilities, and Tehran warned that it would respond with strikes on facilities in the Gulf, threatening a "total economic war." These events amplify fears regarding the prolongation of the conflict and the impact on oil and gas flows through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic point for energy transport. Oil prices have risen by approximately 40% since the beginning of the attacks in February.
