The manufacturer Mondelēz has announced the withdrawal from sale of several batches of 100 g Milka Caramel chocolate in Germany, due to the risk that certain bars may contain visible pieces of plastic, making them unsafe for consumption. This withdrawal concerns batches sold in supermarkets and discount stores across the country. Plastic fragments can pose choking hazards or internal injuries if they enter the digestive tract.
All affected products bear the same EAN code - 7622210349675 - and are associated with certain expiration dates and production codes, which are printed on the packaging. Mondelēz has assured that other Milka products and the company's brands are not affected. The Federal Association of Food Inspectors in Germany has emphasized that the presence of plastic in food can occur during processing, transportation, or packaging, and the industry uses modern equipment to reduce this risk. Consumers are advised to check the chocolate purchased and return any suspicious products to stores for a refund.
