Two Romanians, a 28-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, have been convicted in Switzerland for defrauding the social security system for nearly four years. They were found guilty of multiple offenses, including social security fraud and document forgery.
Their fraud mechanism involved obtaining jobs through agencies, followed by simulating workplace accidents, especially by falling on stairs to claim injuries. When doctors had doubts, they would change doctors to continue collecting benefits.
Investigators uncovered over 120 acts of fraud, and the total damage exceeded 183,000 Swiss francs for the man and 85,400 francs for the woman. The man was sentenced to three years in prison, while the woman received a 20-month suspended sentence, with both being expelled from Switzerland for 12 years.
