Two Romanians have been arrested in Switzerland for jewelry thefts committed by distraction, targeting elderly people.

Two Romanians, a man and a 34-year-old woman, were arrested in Zurich, Switzerland, after being caught in the act following jewelry thefts, targeting elderly victims. The city police reported approximately 30 similar cases since the beginning of the year.

The incident occurred on Friday morning when the two approached a 90-year-old woman under the pretext of needing directions to a pharmacy. During the interaction, the female suspect managed to steal her gold chain, replacing it with a fake one.

The police responded quickly, identifying the vehicle in which the suspects were located, where they found suspicious jewelry. The two are being investigated for theft and other offenses, and the investigation continues to check for possible links to other similar incidents. Authorities recommend caution in interactions with strangers who offer gifts or request help.
