Three Romanian truck drivers were sentenced by the criminal court in Tongeren, Belgium, to one year in prison and a fine of 1,200 euros for thefts committed from a Colruyt store. They were employees in international transport for Ikea and frequented the distribution center in Genk.
In April 2025, during breaks between trips, they stole hard drives, USB sticks, and books from the store. On April 26, they were caught by security staff while trying to steal the goods.
Two of them were stopped after passing the checkout, while the third was caught in the store. Following investigations, it was discovered that they had been involved in previous thefts from the same store.
Although they were caught, they were released after paying a bail of 1,500 euros. Having a clean criminal record, they received a suspended sentence.
