The German Bundestag has decided to extend funding for the national public transport ticket, Deutschlandticket, until the end of 2030, thus ensuring the stability of this popular project. However, starting in January 2026, the price of the monthly subscription will increase from 58 to 63 euros. The funding will be provided through annual contributions of 1.5 billion euros from the federal government and the states, an amount that will cover the financial losses of regional transport associations.

Criticism has been expressed by transport organizations and consumer associations, which believe that the price increase will disappoint users and will not attract new subscribers. The government is also accused of breaking promises, with users expecting price stability at least until 2028.
