In the town of Izegem in Belgium, a 42-year-old Romanian developer was sentenced to two years in prison, half of which was suspended, for fraud. In 2022, he signed a contract to build seven apartments, but after receiving 40,000 euros, he disappeared without completing the work.
The lawyer for the aggrieved party stated that communication stopped after the payment was made, and the paid materials were never picked up. The developer's company went bankrupt, and the man transferred money from the company to his personal accounts, including 15,000 euros immediately after receiving the payment. The judge ordered him to pay damages of 40,500 euros and prohibited him from practicing his profession for 10 years.
