A 42-year-old Romanian from Austria was sentenced to 11 years in prison for robbing his wife of 29,000 euros, under the threat of violence.

At the Regional Court in Feldkirch, a Romanian with a considerable criminal past was found guilty of repeated robberies against his wife, threatening her with a knife. In total, he obtained 29,000 euros, including 4,000 stolen directly from her bag. The wife reported years of physical abuse, and the court decided that the evidence of violence is clear. The man was sentenced to 11 years in prison and ordered to pay damages. His reaction was one of surprise at the sentence. The case attracted the attention of the Austrian press due to the severity of the crimes.
