A Romanian settled in Italy was left without a car and received a fine of approximately 3,000 euros after a check carried out by the local police on March 31, in Brugherio. The Romanian, who lives in Rho, Milan, was driving a Renault Captur with Romanian license plates.
During the check, he presented a registration certificate from Romania, indicating that the car was registered in the name of his mother-in-law, who holds an Italian driving license. The police discovered that the vehicle had initially been registered in Italy and had not been deregistered for export, contrary to legal procedure.
It was also found that the car was still registered in the name of the driver's wife and was subject to a tax seizure. The authorities imposed a fine of approximately 3,000 euros, seized the car, and blocked its use for three months.
The case raised questions about the complexity of vehicle registrations in documents from different jurisdictions, which can complicate the identification of those responsible in the event of penalties.
