The man, a resident in Italy, stole electricity for almost nine years, tampering with the meter to avoid recording the actual consumption. The investigation began after a report from Enel, which noticed anomalies in consumption. The Carabinieri discovered that the Romanian was paying minimal amounts for energy, while the total losses for the company reached 26,860 euros. Arrested for aggravated theft, he partially admitted to the facts, citing financial difficulties.
