Measles cases have been confirmed in several schools in Enfield and Haringey, London, according to a warning issued by Evergreen GP Surgery.

Dudu Sher-Arami, the public health director in Enfield, informed parents about the seriousness of the outbreak, which could threaten the entire capital and could lead to a much larger outbreak.

Measles can cause severe complications, including deafness and brain damage, and approximately 20% of children may require hospitalization.

The World Health Organization recently stated that the UK is no longer considered a country that has eliminated measles, given that the transmission of the disease has been restored in 2024.
