Germany is facing a new wave of strikes in public transport, triggered by the Verdi union, which have paralyzed traffic in four of the most populated regions: North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria, Saxony-Anhalt, and Hamburg. This is the third round of coordinated strikes at the national level, affecting nearly 100,000 employees from over 150 transport companies.

The negotiations, which have been ongoing since November 2025, aim to reduce weekly working hours, extend breaks, and increase allowances for night and weekend work. In many cities, traffic has been completely halted, and the strike in Saxony-Anhalt will extend for four days.

Although agreements have been reached in other states, negotiations in Bavaria and other regions are more complex, and employers cite financial difficulties. Experts recommend checking transport applications before traveling, considering that strikes may occur unpredictably in the coming months.
