On Wednesday morning, a large-scale strike in public transport in Bavaria led to the blocking of travel in cities such as Munich, Nuremberg, and Bayreuth. The subway, trams, and most buses remained in depots, and commuters turned to personal cars, causing congestion on the main roads.

Transport employees are demanding higher wages and a reduction in working hours. Verdi union secretary, Katharina Wagner, mentioned that no further work stoppages are planned before the next round of negotiations.

In Nuremberg, almost no vehicles were running, while in Munich, transport operated partially. The VAG company recommended passengers to seek alternatives, while bicycles were made available. Road traffic was affected, and weather conditions further complicated travel.

The Verdi union is demanding a salary increase of 668.75 euros, but local authorities reject the requests, citing financial constraints. The association of municipal employers considers the union actions an unjustified escalation, stating that salary improvements have already been offered.
