In 2025, Germany had the highest number of unemployed people in the last twelve years, with 2.948 million individuals without a job, representing an increase of 161,000 compared to the previous year. The head of the employment agency, Andrea Nahles, stated that although the lowest point may have been reached, significant improvement is not expected before the middle of 2026. The unemployment rate remained stable at 6.3%, but the labor market continues to be affected by economic stagnation and structural challenges in the industry.
