A serious accident occurred on Sunday evening in Golmés, Spain, when a car overturned in the Urgell Canal, resulting in the death of a 42-year-old Romanian. The incident was reported by a passerby who noticed the submerged vehicle and called 112.
At the scene, emergency services, including Mossos d'Esquadra and firefighters, managed to overturn the car, finding the victim's body inside. Investigators quickly identified the driver, a 34-year-old man, who was found at home three hours later, with cuts and bruises.
It appears that he was under the influence of alcohol and lost control of the vehicle, leaving the passenger without help. The driver is now being prosecuted for manslaughter, driving under the influence of alcohol, and failing to assist a person in danger.
