Herculane baths, once frequented by emperors for their sulphurous waters, are in a state of advanced decay due to corruption and neglect. Young architects, led by Oana Chirila, are trying to bring the resort back to life through citizens' initiatives. Although many monuments are in a catastrophic state and blocked by litigation, progress has been made in redeveloping the area, attracting increasing numbers of tourists. Optimism remains, despite the challenges, and restoration efforts continue to inspire hope.
