The woman, a mother of two little girls, was abducted in Chișineu-Criș by her ex-partner, who violated a temporary protection order. After being dragged for about 2 km, the man dumped her body in a ditch. The authorities opened a criminal case for murder and deprivation of liberty. The case reflects an alarming problem of gender-based violence in Romania, where dozens of femicides have been reported this year. Recent protests have called for stronger measures to protect women.
