Viorel Pașca, the leader of the "Dumbrava-Dumnezeu Poartă de Grijă" Association, rejected the accusations of human trafficking and exploitation of the beneficiaries' vulnerabilities.

Pașca stated that he has cared for people without families and incomes, arguing that he could not have exploited 300 people without financial resources. He mentioned that only homeless individuals were accepted in his centers, claiming that he collaborated with institutions such as hospitals and local authorities to bring in patients, not to recruit them.

The Bucharest Tribunal decided to place him and his family under judicial control, while DIICOT prosecutors contest this decision, arguing that Pașca and his family formed a criminal group under the guise of the association, which did not have the necessary licenses to provide social or medical services.
