Viorel Pașca, the Bihorean accused of having transformed residences into an illegal asylum, is being heard on Wednesday morning by DIICOT prosecutors. He must provide explanations in the case in which he is accused of having exploited thousands of vulnerable individuals to obtain income from donations and other sources.
Members of his family, as well as an employee responsible for the staff at the asylum, have also been brought to the DIICOT headquarters.
Prosecutors accuse Pașca of human trafficking and exploitation, mentioning that, following the searches, they found over 400 individuals in his residences.
In the last six years, approximately 400 individuals have died and been buried near his properties.
The mayor of Holod confirmed that Pașca's activities were known, and he requested that beneficiaries of disability assistance no longer receive part of the allowance.
DIICOT claims that Pașca misled donors by providing insufficient social services without ensuring the necessary medical care.
The investigation could also target employees of state institutions who were aware of his activities.
