Vega Ploiești refinery has started the production of hexane with a minimum purity of 60%

Vega Refinery Ploiești, operated by Rompetrol Rafinare, has started the production of a new type of solvent, hexane with a purity of at least 60%, used in the food industry and in the production of polypropylene.

According to available information, the launch of this product was made possible following optimizations carried out at the N-Hexane plant. Vega is currently the only unit in Romania that produces this type of solvent. Compared to the 50% purity variant, the new hexane has a higher stability and is used in processes such as the refining of edible oils, as well as in the production of adhesives and paints.

The production capacity is estimated at approximately 150 tons per day, and the product is already being delivered to commercial partners. In the previous year, the refinery produced about 93,000 tons of hexane, covering domestic consumption, a large part being destined for export to markets in Europe and Asia.
