Since August 1, the VAT increase has caused major problems in pharmacies, both in the capital and across the country, blocking the dispensing of compensated medicines due to errors in the computer system. The new price lists have not been updated and patients are unable to get the medicines they need. In addition, pensioners and the unemployed will have to pay higher costs for medicines as a result of income taxation. Other changes in the healthcare system include requiring hospitals to display information on beds and monthly budget.
