The Special Telecommunications Service (STS) announced a decrease in unjustified calls to 112, with a record level of 36.16% in 2025, the lowest since the launch of the single emergency number. Last year, STS operators handled over 8.8 million calls, of which nearly 64% required the intervention of authorities.

Compared to 2015, non-emergency calls have decreased threefold, and abusive calls recorded a decrease of 10.47% compared to 2024, although 2,262,177 malicious calls were received in 2025. The counties with the most unjustified calls are Argeș, Gorj, and Vrancea, while Cluj, Bucharest-Ilfov, and Bihor have the fewest. STS mentions that there are five methods of locating emergency calls in Romania, including a unique solution at the European level.
