Two women from Vrancea County have been urgently hospitalized with suspected botulism, a serious condition caused by a toxin that affects the nervous system. The 56-year-old woman is in very serious condition in Intensive Care, having been found unconscious in her home. The other patient, aged 67, is in stable condition and has been transferred to Victor Babeș Hospital in Bucharest.
Both women consumed preserved products, but not the same type, and the epidemiological investigation has shown that there is no connection between the two cases. The Vrancea Public Health Directorate is monitoring the patients' progress and expanding the investigation to assess risks for other individuals. Botulism is a rare but dangerous disease that requires rapid medical intervention.
