Two American soldiers were killed in Jordan, marking the first loss of life among the U.S. military since the recent escalation of the conflict with Iran, according to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). In a post on platform X, CENTCOM confirmed that the ballistic missile and drone attacks launched by Iran resulted in the deaths of the two soldiers, and a third is reported missing. Four other American soldiers, who suffered minor injuries, were evacuated to hospitals in Jordan and later discharged. The identities of the deceased soldiers will not be disclosed until official notification of their families.
The most important American military base in Jordan is located in Azraq, and CENTCOM did not specify the exact location of the incident. In the context of rising tensions, the U.S. has bombed Iran for the seventh consecutive night, and Tehran has retaliated, threatening a "total offensive." The Iranian government stated that the framework agreement with the United States is no longer valid, accusing Washington of violating its obligations.
