A trans woman from France reported that she was assaulted by law enforcement in a police station in Bucharest, the incident occurring on the night of June 5 to 6. The ACCEPT association, which advises her, claims that the assault was motivated by discrimination.
After being escorted to Police Station 27, Bellehaze claims she was hit and thrown to the ground by a gendarme, despite her calls for help. The Capital Police stated that the incident is being investigated by the Military Prosecutor's Office, noting that the woman was initially taken to the station after being accused of assault by a man.
The woman has filed complaints for rape and against the abuses suffered, but has encountered difficulties in making her voice heard. Representatives of ACCEPT emphasize that the violence was related to her gender identity, while the police stated that no acts of violence by the staff were found. The case continues to be investigated.
