A tragic accident occurred in Mureșenii Bârgaului, where a 12-year-old girl was fatally struck by a 59-year-old driver, who is now being investigated for manslaughter. The incident happened on Tuesday evening, as the girl was leaving school, excited that she would receive the third prize at the end of the fifth grade. Witnesses say she quickly stepped onto the sidewalk, having been called by her grandmother to go home. At the time of the accident, there were other people on the sidewalk who were injured but were stabilized by doctors. Footage captured by surveillance cameras shows how the car veered off its lane and entered oncoming traffic, hitting the girl head-on. Rushed to the hospital by SMURD helicopter, the girl could not be saved. The community is in shock, and the police continue their investigations, considering the hypothesis that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
