A man has died at the 'Bucovina Ultra Rocks' mountain running competition after a tree fell on him in a thunderstorm.

The incident took place on an 88km trail in the Giumalău Massif area, where a tree fell on a runner in his 50s. Emergency crews, including mountain rescue and firefighters, had difficulty accessing the victim due to fallen trees. Although resuscitation maneuvers were performed, the man was pronounced dead. Other competitors were recovered and transported to safety and police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
