On Wednesday, the major trade union confederations in Romania organized a protest in front of the Government, criticizing the austerity measures adopted by the Executive. The protesters are demanding an increase in the minimum wage, higher pensions, and fair taxation. During the protest, the gendarmes identified individuals not affiliated with the unions, including a man who was carrying a knife, and he was taken to the police for questioning.

The union members emphasized that they will no longer accept being victims of a system that promotes austerity and incompetence. They also called on the Government to ensure a decent living for all citizens. The protest was scheduled between 07:30 and 16:00, with traffic restrictions in the area.
