The municipality of Timișoara has decided to temporarily stop the architectural lighting of symbolic buildings, such as the Church in Bălcescu Square and the Metropolitan Cathedral, in order to reduce energy consumption.
Deputy Mayor Ruben Lațcău announced that a list of another 20 objectives that will no longer be illuminated will follow, this measure being part of an energy-saving plan. Timișoara has already modernized its public lighting system, implementing LED solutions and remote management, which has led to a reduction in consumption.
In parallel, the administration in Oradea has announced a similar measure, delaying the activation of public lighting by one hour, which will reduce daily consumption by 3.3 MWh.
These measures are part of efforts to manage the energy crisis and save resources in the current context.
