A three-year-old child was injured by a tombstone that became detached in a cemetery in Timișoara

A three-year-old child was injured on Sunday after a tombstone became detached in a cemetery on Calea Șagului in the municipality of Timișoara. The child was taken to hospital to receive medical care.

Officers from the Timișoara Urban Police Section 3 were alerted via the 112 emergency number by the child’s father, who reported that the tombstone had become detached and struck his son. The crew that arrived at the scene confirmed the incident and began checks.

Following the incident, police opened a criminal case for negligent bodily harm. The investigation aims to establish the exact causes and circumstances in which the tombstone became detached and injured the child. Until the investigation is completed, no information has been provided about the child’s health or any potential responsibility for maintaining the tombstone.
