The director of Apa Nova stated that the water in Bucharest is treated according to European standards, but the quality of raw water has deteriorated in recent years.

Mădălin Mihailovici, the director of Apa Nova, confirmed that the water coming out of Bucharest is treated and meets national and European standards. He explained that the Glina wastewater treatment plant has been modernized, allowing for complete water treatment. However, Mihailovici mentioned that, in recent years, the quality of raw water taken from the Argeș and Dâmbovița rivers has deteriorated, with concentrations often exceeding permissible limits.

The director emphasized that modern technology allows for the management of these issues, but acknowledged that there are significant variations in the turbidity of the water, especially following extreme weather phenomena. He explained that these fluctuations are normal and are caused by the management of water accumulations to prevent flooding. Mihailovici has been leading Apa Nova since 2015 and has extensive experience in water resource management.
