Aquaterm has announced that the water supplied in the municipality of Curtea de Argeș and the neighboring communes, Băiculești, Valea Iașului, and Valea Danului, remains non-potable due to the presence of the bacterium Clostridium perfringens. This was detected following analyses conducted by the supplier and the Argeș Public Health Directorate. The water can only be used for household purposes. To support the population, the local administration and the County Inspectorate for Emergency Situations have made available tanks with drinking water, supplied by a fire truck, located in educational institutions.
Additionally, Aquaterm mentioned that the water from the spring near the bridge on Progresul Street and that from the courtyard of the Curtea de Argeș Monastery are potable, while the water from the springs at Șipot and Valea Danului is not. The non-potability of the water has also been determined by the increase in turbidity caused by controlled discharges from the Vidraru reservoir, affecting the distribution network that serves approximately 40,000 residents.
